An interest that started with an appreciation for precision and engineering - the same qualities that define performance in the pool. Matt’s particular admiration runs to Patek Philippe, Rolex, and Audemars Piguet’s Royal Oak: watches built on the same obsession with tolerances and timing that a 0.02-second race demands.
The watch journey began after his first Olympics where he was introduced to horology through the purchase of an Olympic edition Omega Seamaster.
Matt plans to pass his collection down to his future children along with the stories that accompany them.

Long before Sponza, Matt was buying and selling cars - learning the arbitrage side of a market most people only ever buy into. That background sits behind a genuine enthusiast’s eye now: a modified BMW build, and more recently a BMW M4 Competition xDrive.
Matt's love for cars extends to track days, cars and coffee meet ups and a dream job as a Top Gear presenter after his swimming and entrepreneurial endeavours come to a close!

Coffee is the constant that keeps the chaos in check. Amid early mornings, travel, and the noise of a demanding schedule, it is a quiet ritual that brings a sense of stability. One of the simplest pleasures is heading to a local coffee shop, finding a corner, and catching up with someone close. Federal in Manchester is a favourite for exactly that - good coffee, good company, and the rare feeling of slowing down for a while.

Travel is one of the most fulfilling parts of life. It is about learning how different cultures move through the world, meeting people with entirely different perspectives, and trying food that tells the story of a place. Exploring the world has become a real passion, not just the places themselves, but the way travel opens you up to something new.
So far, Matt has travelled to 26 countries across 4 continents. The list is growing, and top of the wishlist is Australia - a first visit that cannot come soon enough.

Technology is where Matt’s curiosity has turned into something much bigger. What started as a fascination with how things work has led him to learn to write code, build a tech startup, and explore how agentic AI can reshape the workflows inside his company. He stays close to the latest progressions in the space, not because he has to, but because the speed of change genuinely excites him.
It was not always that way. Tech never really grabbed him at school, but the interest found him in his late teens and early twenties. That late spark gave him the confidence and the drive to launch a Sports Tech Startup, combining the world he knows with the one he is still learning about every day.
